Surveillance Knowledge | Types of Security Cameras

Understanding the three kinds of surveillance cameras
Security Cameras in the current surveillance market can be roughly divided into three categories according to image transmission methods: IP Cam, CCTV, and DTV.

IP CAM
IP Cam

IP Cam is like a small computer, it can deal with imagination and voice diretly before transmit them to the host through the internet , saving the host's bandwidth and storage space.
Although the construction cost is high, the IP cam is convenient to be installed; the security is high, and the file can be encrypted through the network to ensure the security of monitoring.
In the aspect of function, IP cam can integrate many modern and smart technologies, such as remote connection, AI face recognition, license plate recognition, and so on.It suitable for a smart surveillance environment that requires a high degree of integration, or places where the quality of monitoring management is particularly required.

CCTV camera
CCTV camera

CCTV camera transmits data through a coaxial cable. It transmits the image directly to the host for processing, which is the most basic surveillance solution.
In the trend toward smart surveillance, traditional CCTV cameras are gradually eliminated from the market and replaced by analog high-definition series cameras, which have higher picture quality and longer distances. Among them, AHD cameras has the highest market share.
The image of the analog camera may become unclear due to the increase of the transmission distance.Because of the simple construction, CCTV cameras still has an absolute advantage in terms of cost.
It is suitable for small and medium-sized uncomplicated places with simple monitoring requirements.Because the construction model is similar to the traditional analog camera, AHD camera is still a good choice for upgrading from the traditional analog camera.

DTV camera
DTV camera

Digital video cameras (DTV) are built in a similar way to analog high-definition cameras, and data are also transmitted through coaxial cables.
Compared with CCTV cameras, digital cameras have a longer transmission distance while maintaining high-quality images, and are less susceptible to cable aging and other low-frequency equipment interference.
It is especially suitable for installation in places requiring long-distance monitoring, such as transportation industry, campuses, parking lots, construction sites, etc.

Which one should I choose?

Installing surveillance cameras need to consider environment, user requirements, costs and other factors. You must consult the expert that help you evaluate.
